The Nothing to Crow About Banner featuring a hand-painted bird singing on a tree branch

Springtime Sparrow

I don’t know if you guys have started thinking about Christmas yet, but I sure have. As my schedule has filled up, I’ve realized that I have to narrow down and edit all the photos I have by mid-October so that I can create my annual photo book by the time Black Friday sales roll around.

There are 118 days until Christmas, which means I only have 91 days to get myself together.

That’s not as long as it sounds

But on another note, a beautiful March day is a wonderful opportunity to visit your local Audubon Society.

And although John James Audubon does not deserve to have such a beautiful piece of land named after him, I do love this place.

Despite the fact that we’ve grown our lawn into a meadow for a couple years now, I don’t often see Field Sparrows, so spotting this little guy in the brambles was the highlight of my day.

We wrapped up the trip by sitting on a warm sunny hillside, surrounded by a flock of robins who were looking for worms in the newly-thawed soil.

So all in all, this was a perfect day to celebrate the coming of springtime.
