The Decency of Vultures

I’ve really grown quite fond of Turkey Vultures. These highly misunderstood birds are actually quite shy and mainly just like to be left alone. They seem to be okay with having their portrait taken as long as you don’t infringe on their personal space, though.

So back in August, when one landed in the oak tree in our backyard, I didn’t hesitate to grab my camera and start snapping.

They just weren’t coming out right, though; I was too far below him. So I went back inside, climbed the stairs, and popped out my bedroom window’s insect screen.

This amiable vulture didn’t seem to mind any of the commotion and let me take an outrageous amount of photos before flying off. Thus proving that vultures are one of the most decent birds around.
